At New Khoj Nasha Mukti Kendra, we understand that recovery is about much more than just quitting substances – it's about rediscovering life. One of the most powerful ways we help our residents reconnect with themselves and others is through game time – a daily opportunity to unwind, interact, and heal in a joyful, supportive environment.

Why We Believe in the Power of Play

Rehabilitation can be an emotionally and mentally intense process. That’s why incorporating fun and engaging group activities is not just a luxury – it's a necessity. Games help shift focus from cravings and negative thoughts, allowing individuals to tap into:

  • Laughter and lightness, often missing for years during addiction
  • Social skills that promote healthy relationships and communication
  • Self-confidence, as residents experience small wins and encouragement
  • Emotional regulation, especially when working as a team or facing competition
  • Mindfulness and presence, which are key to recovery and relapse prevention

A Glimpse Into Our Game Time

Every evening, the energy shifts at New Khoj. Laughter echoes through the halls. Smiles break across faces. Our residents gather – some around a carrom board, others in the courtyard ready for cricket or volleyball, and a few huddled over a game of chess.

Games we regularly enjoy include:

  •  Outdoor favorites like cricket, badminton, and volleyball
  •  Board games like Ludo, Carrom, Chess, and Snakes & Ladders
  •  Mind games and puzzles to stimulate concentration and patience
  •  Group building games focused on communication and trust

These moments bring people together, help break emotional walls, and remind every individual that fun is part of being alive again.

Healing the Mind, Body, and Spirit – Together
Addiction isolates. Recovery reconnects. Through simple activities like play, our residents begin to rebuild relationships – first with themselves, and then with others. They learn to trust again, to laugh without substance, and to create healthy routines that support long-term sobriety.

At New Khoj, we don’t just treat addiction. We build a lifestyle of recovery – one that includes joy, wellness, and connection.
